Are Herbs effective?
Most of the modern medicines or supplements from Aspirin to Viagra, have come from Plants or microbes or
animals. What western medicine ( Allopathy) has done is to extract or synthesize the chemicals found in these
and concentrated them to a higher degree. In many cases it make a lot of economic sense. But in some cases at
least the action of these chemical works better and safer with a wide variety of other components present in
plants or animals.

Clinical trial of Herbs?
One of the most common complaints said about Herbal remedies or supplements are that they are not clinically
proven. It is true that there have been far fewer so called clinical trials with herbs. But one should remember
that most of the Ayurvedic preparations have been handed over after centuries of human trials. We are sure
there must have been ( are at present even) quiet a few deadly potions but they get weeded out over time. The
same is true about western medicines as one can see that a number of so called remarkable remedies have
been recalled as useless or even as dangerous. Where as Herbs like Aloe vera have been used as skin
enhancer from time of Cleopatra to this present date. The best way to know is to read and understand about
Herbs or western cures. These two branches should be treated more as complements of each other.

Are Herbs safe?
Is it safe to swallow 50 sleeping pills? No. Similarly if some one says all herbs are with out any side effects, they
are not telling you the full truth. Chemicals present in Herbs act in a similar manner as Chemicals in a medicine.
That is why it is all the more important to follow manufacturers instructions about dosage and frequency. This is
also the reason for you not to try to create your own potions with out knowing all the effects and right quantities
to use. As an example Strychnos Nux-vomica will act like a poison in large quantities but has been used as a
medicine in Ayurveda and Homeopathy for centuries. Any thing in excess quantities is not good for your body.
